Friends Handicraft is a small collective of women in Kathmandu, Nepal, that provides fair trade jobs for a number of disadvantaged women and single mothers. Many of these women are survivors of human trafficking in this high risk area. In addition to employment, Friends Handicraft also provides these women with medical benefits, assistance with education fees for their children, as well as books and school supplies.

Friends Handicraft is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to fighting poverty & to promoting women's right in a country where women are considered second class citizens. They offer skills training and income generating programs, and over the last few years the number of employees has grown from 6 to 90 young women.

Their beautiful felt bags are examples of the oldest form of fabric known. The felt is made by wetting wool with soap and water and then agitating the fibers to stretch them into all sortsof items like shoes, socks, bags, coats, and even shelters.
