• Today there are more than 27 million slaves in our world. That is more people than were extracted from Africa during the 400 years of the trans-Atlantic slave trade (Kevin Bales, Disposable People).

• Trafficking in human beings is now tied with illegal drugs as the second largest money-making venture in the world, after illegal weapons. In fact, the United Nations estimates that the trade nets organized crime more than $30 billion a year” (Victor Malarek The Natashas: Inside the New Global Sex Trade).
• According to a CIA report, 700,000 to 2 million women and children worldwide are victimized by traffickers each year.
• The State Department estimates that as many as 800,000 people are trafficked over international frontiers each year, largely for sexual exploitation. Eighty percent are female and over fifty percent are minors.
• As many as 50,000 women and children from Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe are brought to the U.S. under false pretenses each year and forced to work as prostitutes, abused laborers or servants (Joel Brinkley NYT citing CIA report).
• Many people in this country push this atrocity out of their minds, believing that it only occurs in faraway countries like Thailand, Cambodia, the Ukraine and Bosnia. The truth is that the United States has become a large-scale importer of sex slaves.

These are topics we expect to read about in history books, but as current events? Can these things possibly be happening in the year 2010? In the world that we live in today?

When first faced with the reality that slavery does in fact exist in the world today, I was shocked. Not only by the TRUTH of it, but by the fact that the majority of us here in the US are completely ignorant!    

I remember reaching the place where I knew that I couldn't just walk away from this.

And then came the question...if this is really true, then what can I DO about it? What can any of us do, to stop this evil? With knowledge, comes accountability. And I began to pray.

Slowly, little by little, answers came ... and eventually In His Image Designs, LLC was born.
